Recently, the Owner of MG Pakistan has teased an interesting vehicle, dubbed the MG Mulan and the MG4 EV in the international market. it is one of its more recent, Electric Vehicle (EV) designs based on a Modular Car Platform. MG 4 EV will be launched in Pakistan at a later date – but not before 2025 as per current market dynamics.
2. Environmental Benefits of Electric Vehicle (EV) Cars
In an effort to reduce carbon footprints, consumers are increasingly shifting towards alternative modes of transportation. There are multiple benefits with regards to driving an electric car instead of a conventional car such as reduced operating costs; lower maintenance costs; and reduced carbon emissions from driving cars that can be offset by buying an electric car instead!
3. What is the Current Status of MG 4 EV?
The debut of MG 4 EV is still a long way away. The company has already launched its MG ZS EV in its lineup back in 2020, but it’s yet to be seen whether Javeed Arifdi will fulfill its promises. the company started its operation back in 2020 and only recently made its brand new assembly plant in Lahore functional.
4. Broken Promises by Javed Afridi
In its current lineup, MG assembles the MG HS, MG ZS and the MG ZS EV in Pakistan. But it has an equal amount of promises made by Javed Afridi on Twitter starting with the MG3, MG4 and MG5.
People had commented on the past teasing most of MG3 saying they have been preparing for the past 21 months. They claim that Afridi has been teasing the MG 3 for years without ever releasing the car’s real debut date, and that these teases are merely PR gimmicks. Resentment and anger might extend towards mistrust issues on the company if not Javed Afridi.
5. The Company Issues of Javed Afridi
Yet the company has been involved in numerous scandals and complaints. Starting with the late deliveries of its HS and ZS deliveries under the CKD model.
6. Economy Hitting Javed Afridi’s Company
Furthermore, with the recent economic slowdown and financial crunch, it seems less likely for car companies to introduce newer models, especially in Pakistan. The SBP has already limited its LCs for various companies to save on foreign exchange. While most of automobile vendors have already seen a slowdown in their sales.
7. MG 4 EV – Expected Price in Pakistan
The Vehicle was initially released in China as the MG Mulan priced at Rs. 42 lac or 1,29,000 yuan.
So MG 4 EV price in Pakistan is expected to be around Rs. 68 lac, while not cheap it still would be a very competitive EV to be released in Pakistan.
Currently, it is being sold as one of the most cheapest EV platform in Europe starting from 28,990 Euro. This makes it one of the most competitive and cheapest EVs in the European market.
8. Importance of the MG 4 – Global Release
MG is one of the more budget-friendly yet one of the most competitive Electric Vehicle Car in the world. it aims to woes in buyers and builds a name for itself as a globally competitive automobile company.
MG is a sub-brand of the Chinese Juggernaut SAIC, working to expand its name. Currently, the chinese car brands have a branding problem, where most global consumers see it being cheap and poor build quality.
For that purpose, major Chinese manufacturers have started a drive of rebranding and aggressive global sales. MG is an attempt by SAIC to expand its global footprint, especially in the emerging EV market.
MG or Morris Garages a British-origin company was founded in 1930 under the affluent sports car enthusiasts Cecil Kimber. the company went through various changes in ownership and landed under the control of SAIC in 2007.
Seeing the great potential, the Chinese manufacturer invested heavily in the MG marque and proceeded to spin it off as a competitive brand, especially in the EV category. MG4 EV is a continuation of that attempt of rebranding the MG marque.
MG Motor is Based on the Modular Scalable Platform therefore it plays an important role in MG’s growth strategy for global growth by showcasing SAICs bleeding edge technology.

This puts an interesting opportunity for MG Pakistan as it could start the assembly of RHS and become an exporter of such a model. Currently, Master Motors in partnership has recently exported its first RHS version of Ohshan X7.
10. Conclusion
The launch of MG’s second attempt to break the monopoly of the 3 Big manufacturers in the Pakistani market is not a joke, but we need to wait a bit longer before we get to see the car on the road. The company has already showcased its vision and ambitions by already launching MG ZS EV in Pakistan and has teased various MG models for expansion in Pakistan.
We also should remember that Javed Afridi had teased the launch of the 1500cc MG3 in an attempt to garner public interest in the company. So far such a promise has yet to be fulfilled with MG4 becoming the new candidate for the publicity stunt.
The launch of the EV has been slow in Pakistan even after various government support in Auto Policy 2021. Therefore, it is certainly a long wait for Pakistani consumers who are eager for a new form of transportation. The pricing and specifications of the MG 4 EV are expected to be revealed soon.
