A video featuring Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan and PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhel has gone viral. The two can be seen chastising each other on a TV show in the viral footage. Firdous Ashiq Awan and PPP MNA attacked each other, but a slap exacerbated the situation on the chat programme.
Qadir Khan Mandokhail is a Pakistani politician who has served in Pakistan’s National Assembly since 30 April 2021. He belongs to the Pakistan Peoples Party.
The event occurred when anchor Javed Chaudhry was conducting a chat programme. The video depicts Awan and Mandokhel, who just won a by-election in Karachi on the PPP platform. During the show’s verbal war, Mandokhel accused Awan of corruption.
Later, in a tweet, Awan said Mandokhel used filthy language, which enraged her, and that the video only told one side of the situation. She requested that the whole footage be made available by the TV station.
“During the talk show, PPP’s Qadir Mandokhel threatened me. He insulted my late father and me by using abusive language. I had to take an extreme step in my defence,” Awan tweeted along with a video statement.
She said that after consultations, legal action will be taken against Mandokhel.
Meanwhile, the PPP MNA in his own statement on Twitter, said that if Awan apologises, he will wholeheartedly accept it.
“If she thinks she will take legal action, I too have the right according to the law and Constitution to do so. Bar associations across Pakistan have condemned the move,” he said.
Mandokhel said this is “not the first time Awan has done such a thing“.
